Horses have always been a part of my life, my connection with the world if you like. Without them there is no me! This is how passionate I am about these wonderful God given beings.
I have been working as a professional equine therapist, both as a Reiki Practitioner and an Animal Communicator for over seven years. Reiki can help horses on all levels, like us they have a network of energy centres situated within the body and when theses centres get blocked it can manifest into physical symptoms.

It is easier to explain the energy that flows within us if we use a metphor. If we visualise our energy flowing through our body just as  a river flows downstream. And as we follow the daily ups and downs of everyday life a pebble or two is casually dropped into the flowing river reducing it's flow very gently, but steadily over time. These pebbles symbolize the energetic blocks that restrict our energy flow (ki). Reiki washes this debris away, freeing the flow of energy and returning the body back into balance.

Our bodies - humans and animals - are all made of many different parts, and within these body parts are also yet more parts within parts. our organs and other parts of the body are made up of tissue and this tissue is made up of cells. These cells are then made up of molecules and these molecules are made up of atoms. I am no scientist but I am under the understanding that this is the basic structure of our make up. our basic make up is vibrating energy.

We all have an energetic field which omits from around our physical body called the aura. Just as this aura is around us so our energy centres lay within us. As a reiki practitioner I can sense disturbances within this energy field and while allowing reiki to flow through my body am able to aid the energy field in balancing itself. This energy balancing can help to prevent, as well as treat physical ailments when they occur.

Medicine in general concentrates on treating the physical, reiki practitioners focus on the whole being. As we know our emotional well being is just as important, if not more so than our physical wellbeing. It is my belief that 'Action follows thought' - In this I mean that - If our minds are at peace, then we generally feel well within ourselves. Unlike us, horses can not shed the emotional burdens that we force upon them and therefore it is vital that they are given a way to release this stored energy. They can not physically cry like humans. Reiki helps to release this negative energy and puts the body back into homeostasis.

What Happens before a reiki treatment for my horse?
I will arrive at the yard and we will have a consultation before the reiki treatment begins. This is so that I am made aware of any veterinary treatment that the horse is under and generally to find out how you as the horse's guardian feel about the situation, we will also discuss what you would like to achieve from the treatment. I will also ask you to sign a veterinary consent form. This is needed by law as anyone practising hands on therapy for animals must obtain this. I will also ask you to fill out a form for my reference detailing a little about the horse's history relating to the treatment etc. I like all money to be dealt with before the treatment as it leaves time for you to spend with your horse immediately after the reiki has taken place giving you both healing time whilst I leave quietly.
What happens during a reiki treatment for my horse?
As I start the treatment session I will ask that spectators be dismissed and only the guardian of the horse to be present. Sometime I will also ask you to leave for a short while also. This is so that I can  get a connection with the horse. Sometimes without knowing it we send out blocking messages through our own fear and stop the energy from flowing, horses pick up on this subtle energy and it can stop the horse from being able to fully open up to the energy. Once I feel that a strong connection has been made I will then ask you to step back in. Huge emotional blockages can be released during a reiki session and the whole experience can leave people feeling rather emotionally drained so please have the tissues ready!
Note: Every reiki treatment session is led by the horse, I do not impose or insist that the horse must take the healing. This is not the reiki way or indeed my way of working. All healing is offered with unconditional love and nothing is expected from the horse. In some instances the horse will obviously refuse treatment and in these cases the consultation will be charged accordingly using my discretion.
If you would like any further information about any of the equine treatments or communication, or would simply like to enquire about a consultation then please do not hesitate to contact me. I will always try to help in what ever way I can at the given time.
